LATEST NEWS: Man accused of stalking has offence withdrawn

A MAN accused of stalking a woman allegedly sent her an unwanted bank transfer and turned up at her beauty appointment.

Leslie Francis, 41, of Westfield Avenue in the Yeadon area, has been charged with stalking involving serious alarm or distress.

He is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

It is alleged between May 2019 and October 2021 that Francis stalked the same woman in North Yorkshire, which caused her serious alarm and distress, and had a substantial adverse effect on her usual day-to-day life.

Francis is accused of being violent and harassing towards the woman in May 2019.

His alleged stalking is also said to have included two unwanted bank cash transfers sent to the woman's account, once in February 2020 and then again in March 2020.

On a day in that same February, Francis is alleged to have been outside when the woman attended a beautician appointment and also arranged for flowers to be delivered to her workplace the next day.

There were then four alleged instances of stalking in 2021.

Francis is accused of tracing the home address of the woman's relative and being there when she visited in September of that year.

The other three allegations relate to alleged phonecalls made by Francis.

It is said he repeatedly rang the woman from his mobile phone on two days in the September, while also allegedly miscalling her mobile when she was at work the month after.
