HERE’S the new Lord Mayor of Bradford as you might never seen him before – as a contestant on a 1980s TV game show.

Councillor Martin Love has been installed as the new Mayor of Bradford for the 2022-23 year in a ceremony held at City Hall yesterday.

 

At the Mayor making ceremony, Bradford Council leader, Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe revealed Cllr Love had appeared as a contestant on ITV game show, the Krypton Factor.

He appeared on the show in 1988, hosted by Gordon Burns.

The future Lord Mayor introduced himself as: Martin Love, aged 26, a computer analyst from Bradford.

He took part in a series of rounds; mental agility, response, which saw him try to land an aeroplane in a flight simulator.

Cllr Love crashed his plane as he attempted to land on the runway at Lake Tahoe, USA.

He also competed in a round called intelligence before he took part in a video round where the four contestants had to spot the six changes that were made between two takes of a scene filmed in a bank.

Cllr Love took part in the show’s assault course challenge.

He won the show’s episode with a total of 38 points following the final general knowledge round.
