A Bradford-based charity shop is urgently appealing for more donations as the cost of living crisis is forcing more people to shop in second-hand stores.

The YMCA store opened on Market Street in the city centre six months ago.

But store manager, Vicky Christensen says the demand for clothes has increased in the past few weeks, and they do not have enough stock to keep the large premises full.

“Our numbers of customers are going up and I think that’s because people aren’t daring to spend money on new clothes.

“We’re going to get busier but it’s a catch 22 because we’re busy but we need more donations to give.”

Vicky said they need more men's and women's clothes to keep the shop filled.

“We tend to get lots of donations like books and things, but because it’s such a big shop, we’re struggling to keep it stocked.”

“Handbags, we can’t get enough of. We get about two a week and they sell almost instantly,” she said.

Donations can be made at the shop from 9 am until 5.30 pm from Monday to Saturday.

It's located at 7 Market St, Bradford BD1 1LN.
