A MAN has been banned from visiting a medical centre for five years after being verbally abusive to and threatening a woman.

Ziaurahman Khan, 36, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to harassment without violence on May 5 at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court.

The 36-year-old went to Woodroyd Medical Centre, in Woodroyd Road on nine occasions between March 16 and April 22 this year and asked for the same woman each time.

He was verbally abusive towards her and also threatened her, enough to make her fear for her safety, according to court records.

Khan was handed a restraining order by the court that prevents him from going to Woodroyd Medical Centre for five years and from contacting directly or indirectly the woman he harassed, for the same period of time.

This order lasts until May 4, 2027.

Khan was also sentenced with a community order.

This includes having treatment for drug dependency for six months and taking part in general rehabilitation activities, for up to a maximum of 10 days.

He was also ordered to pay a £95 surcharge to fund victim services.

This must be paid by May 19.

Khan's guilty plea was taken into account when sentencing.
