A WOMAN suffered burns in a fire at a 14-storey high-rise building in Leeds this morning.

Four West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service engines were at 11.36am today to reports of a flat fire involving a microwave in a 14-storey high-rise block at Potternewton Heights, Potternewton Lane, Chapel Allerton.

A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "One hose length and two breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire and positive pressure ventilation was used to clear smoke.

"One adult female casualty sustained burns to hands and feet and suffered the effects of smoke inhalation.

"She was given first aid on scene by fire service personnel prior to the arrival of Yorkshire Ambulance Service."

Moortown, Killingbeck, Hunslet and Wakefield fire stations were called to the scene.
