A BRADFORD youth has been convicted after setting two wheelie bins on fire.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court on May 12 to be sentenced.
The boy was charged with arson and the offence happened on October 8 last year in Manningham’s Lister Park.
The full charge was: “On 08/10/2021 at Lister Park, Oak Lane, Bradford, committed arson in that without lawful excuse you damaged by fire two commercial wheelie bins of a value unknown belonging to Bradford Metropolitan Council intending to destroy or damage such property or being reckless as to whether such property would be destroyed or damaged.”
The teenager initially denied the offence, but then changed his plea to guilty.
He was referred to the Bradford Youth Offender Panel for nine months; must pay £200 compensation; £150 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and £22 to fund victim services.
