A FATHER-OF-TWO who was sitting in his living room when a car exploded through his window has spoken of his shock.

Adnan Ladifbutt, of Heights Lane near the junction with Haworth Road, was enjoying a peaceful evening with his friends before it was totally ruined in the most horrendous fashion.

Mr Ladifbutt told his landlord Shista Naz how lucky he was that his legs were up on the sofa and not planted on the ground as a pillar came crashing through.

Despite having to go to A&E, he escaped without any serious injuries.

The same could not be said, however, about his friend. The man's hand was pierced by the smashed glass and his back was troubled by the impact.

Speaking to the T&A, Mr Ladifbutt, whose children were upstairs at the time, said: "We were shocked when the car came through.

"My friend was in the room as well and he got injured. His hand was cut from the glass that came through. He had an issue with his back too after the bricks came through.

"I have just been cleaning up the damage caused inside the property. The living room was full of rubbish with bricks and glass so I had to move it all."

Two females, whose ages have not been confirmed, were taken to hospital for treatment on their non-life-threatening injuries following the incident.

Mrs Naz was having afternoon tea at Betty's in Harrogate when she discover the awful news.

"I am so glad that the tenants are okay, that was my main concern," she said.

"I was horrified in Harrogate, thinking I need to get home.

"They must have been so traumatised. Nobody expects a car to run through their window when they are chilling out in their living room.

"When the car came in some bricks flew in and hit the wall. If the tenant's legs weren't on the sofa if they were down, he would have had no legs. He was very fortunate.

"I am really sad that my tenants had to experience this. A lovely evening turned into the most hazardous evening ever.

"My plan is to get the window replaced for the tenant asap. We are going to sort out the room and the outside for the tenant."
