A MAN charged with speeding offences has had all charges against him dropped.

In October, the Telegraph & Argus reported how a man called Lewis Hamilton was due to appear at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court, accused of four offences, including two of speeding on the M62 and in Huddersfield dating back to 2019.

These were driving at 63mph on the M62 between Junctions 27 and 28 westbound in October 2019, while a temporary 40mph limit was in place, and driving at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Bradford Road, Huddersfield in November 2019.

He was also charged with two offences of failing to give information relating to the identity of a driver to police.

A hearing last week has now seen all charges dismissed against Hamilton, 30, of South Lane Gardens, Elland, who shares a name with the multiple Formula 1 champion, who lives in Monaco.

The case had originally been listed for trial after Hamilton pleaded not guilty to all four charges.

But in March the case was adjourned following a request by the prosecution. At this latest hearing on May 5, only two charges of failing to provide information remained.

The prosecution offered no evidence and the final two charges were then dismissed by the courts.
