A DISABLED woman has spoken of her anger and upset after a video emerged of masked thieves stealing her motorbike in broad daylight on a Bradford road.

Amy Clough, 28 who suffers from Ehlers Donlas syndrome, popped into Bradford city centre on her Suzuki GSXR125 motorbike to grab something from the pharmacy.

But when she returned to the bike racks close to the Broadway shopping centre just 15 minutes later, she was met by a group of bystanders who told her how a group of thieves dressed in balaclavas had prized the lock off of her bike and ran off up the road.

Amy, who is currently studying nursing and midwifery at Bradford College, said: “I was really shocked and angry mainly because the bike is my lifeline. I use it to get around to hospital appointments and to college because I need crutches to walk with my mobility issues, and I couldn’t believe it because I’d only been gone a few minutes and it was in broad daylight.”

She added: “I ran up the road after someone from the Council who had seen it told me what had happenned and it was dumped outside the Jinnah Restaurant on the corner of Shipley Airedale road. The police found it and waited with it until I collected it and took it home.”

A video of the incident, on April 22, has now been shared on social media where you can see the group of three men stealing Amy’s bike surrounded by people watching in disbelief.

But although Amy has been reunited with the bike that she's only had a year, she has been left with a bill of more than £4,000.

“The bike is severely damaged, it’s all scratched along the side and my insurance company have pretty much told me it’s a right off so now I can’t use it.

“But as I bought it on finance, I still need to pay that off. So I’ve got to pay the bill for a bike I haven’t got just because someone felt like trying to take it and I need to somehow find the money for a new bike too,” she said.

Amy said that the additional costs are going to ‘be a struggle’ as she is already on benefits, she’s out of work, and her gas and electric costs have almost tripled due to the rising cost of living.
