A NEW digital advertising board at Bradford Bulls' Stadium would not cause harm to the newly listed Richard Dunn Sport Centre - according to planning officers.

In February, an application to replace an existing billboard at Odsal Stadium, on Rooley Lane, with a digital billboard was submitted to Bradford Council.

The application said that advertising revenue from billboards around the stadium was an important source of income for the club.

It said the existing billboard was "tired" and in need of repair.

Since the application was submitted, the vacant Richard Dunn Centre, on the opposite side of the road from the stadium, has become a Grade II listed building. This means the billboard application had to also be judged on its impact on the newly protected building.

'Surprising decision' sees Richard Dunn Centre awarded listed status

Planning officers at Bradford Council said: "Richard Dunn's is a sizeable structure and the proposed digital unit would be on the opposite side of a busy highway.

"It would not dominate the Sports Centre or intrude into key views and more than the existing displays.

"The site of the display is far enough away separated by the busy arterial road to not have an appreciable impact on the setting of the listed building."

The plans have been approved this week.
