TWO Bradford good causes have each received a £1,000 cash boost from a local housebuilder’s Community Champions scheme.

Wilsden Primary School will use the funds for new books, whilst the donation for Burley Trojans Football Club in Burley-in-Wharfedale will go towards a brand new community centre.

The groups received donations from the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme, which donates up to £64,000 to good causes across the UK each month.

Deputy head of Wilsden Primary School, Helen Dearing, said: “We are passionate about developing a love of reading for our pupils. We feel it’s important to provide a diverse collection of books to appeal to all our children’s interests and abilities.

“Persimmon Homes’ donation is a huge boost to our library enabling us to vastly expand our collection. We know the children will benefit from these new books.”

Simon Budd from Burley Trojans FC said: “We proudly have more than 400 registered players from aged six to adults. As the club membership continues to grow, we desperately need a clubhouse with changing facilities.

“We have submitted planning permission for a brand-new social club which the local community can also use and have already raised £395,000. The new building will feature FA approved standard changing facilities, a kitchen and social area and will cost in the region of £550,000.”
