A 75-YEAR-OLD woman has been banned from driving after being caught over the limit behind the wheel.
Carla Barker, of Moor Top in the Guiseley area, was disqualified from driving for a year at Leeds Magistrates' Court last Wednesday.
She pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle when her alcohol level was above the legal limit.
It related to April 8 this year when Barker was stopped in a black Land Rover Discovery on Queensway in Yeadon - a three-minute drive from her home.
A breathalyser test was conducted and she blew a reading of 41 micrograms (mg) of alcohol.
The legal limit for drivers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is 35mg per 100 millilitres of breath.
Barker's 12-month driving ban could be reduced by 13 weeks, if she completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

The cost of the course will be no more than £250.
Barker was also ordered to pay £219 to the court.
This included a £100 fine, a surcharge of £34 to fund victim services and £85 in costs.
It must be paid by June 1 this year.
Barker's guilty plea was taken into consideration by the court when sentencing.
