A 26-YEAR-old man has been jailed for racially and religiously aggravated threats towards a detention officer at a Bradford police station.

Haroon Shah pleaded guilty before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 9, in relation to an incident at Trafalgar House police station dating back to 2020.

He faced charges of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, which caused the detention officer harassment, alarm or distress – and it was racially aggravated.

Shah, whose address was given as Armley Prison in Leeds, received a 14-day prison sentence.

Magistrates jailed him because the offence was so serious and because it was aggravated by previous offending.

The court also found that the offence, which took place on November 15, 2020, was both racially and religiously aggravated.
