THE APPLEGARTH, the fast-growing private members club at Riddlesden, is to host a free, three-day celebration to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June.

It includes a family fun day on Sunday June 5 when live music, food and entertainment is being lined up. A competition to find the area’s answer to Mary Berry with the ‘Great Riddlesden Bake Off’ is also planned.

Applegarth’s Jubilee Weekender kicks off with an Open Day Gin Festival starting at 3pm on Friday June 3 when some 40 different gins will be available along with one or two specially created Royal cocktails. It’s followed by a party night with live music and entertainment from Lauren Brook on Saturday June 4, starting at 7.30pm.

Said event organiser Emma Rigg: “It promises to be a spectacular weekend with something for everyone. – as well as a chance to bring the community together to celebrate.

“The Sunday fun day, which starts at 12pm with an opening blast of the National Anthem, is aimed at the whole family and – weather permitting – will be held outside. There will be live music performances by students of local singing coach Emi Hall; games for all the family to enjoy with bingo, a royal quiz and tombola; and our Bake Off competition which is open to people of all ages. It costs £5 to enter all homemade cakes and we’re looking for entries to be delivered to the Applegarth between 11.30 and 12pm on the Sunday for judging in the early afternoon. We’re also planning to sell food from the barbeque.”

Entry to all Jubilee Weekender events at the club is free. For more information visit the Applegarth Club (Riddlesden and Morton United Services Club) on Facebook.
