BRADFORD has the worst drivers in the UK, according to a new study.

The city has been highlighted as a hotspot for drivers with penalty points, hosting five of the top ten postcodes.

Collingwood Insurance Services analysed DVLA data on penalty points by postcode to reveal the areas with the most and least penalised drivers in the country.

BD3, which covers Barkerend and Thornbury, is where licence holders are most likely to have penalty points, with 14.5 per cent having one point or more.

BD1 (city centre north), BD9 (north-west including the BRI), BD4 (south-east including Tong) and BD5 (city centre south including St Luke’s) are also on the list.

Overall, of the top ten postcode areas, eight are based in West Yorkshire, with the other two postcodes being in Merseyside.

The postcodes with the highest percentage of licence holders with penalty points are as follows: L24 (Liverpool and East Merseyside) 15.2 per cent, BD3 14.5 per cent, LS9 (East Leeds) 14.3 per cent, WF13 (Wakefield - Dewsbury) 14.05 per cent, BD1 14 per cent, L28 (Liverpool and East Merseyside) 13.8 per cent, BD9 13.6 per cent, LS12 (South-West Leeds) 13.3 per cent, BD4 13.2 per cent, and BD5 13.19 per cent.
