DONATIONS of no longer wanted bikes are being welcomed by Skipton Rotary ahead of a fundraising auction next month.

People have been donating bicycles for the auction on Sunday, June 12 which will raise money for charities such as Skipton based SELFA and the international charity KASIN which supports the education of children in disadvantaged communities of rural Nepal.

Donated bikes are being collected at the Skipton Building Society car park on Saturdays between 10am to 2pm until May 28 or, alternatively they can be collected by emailing cycles2recycle@skiptonrotary.org

Bicycles for men, women and children will be on offer at a range of prices, and there will also be a small selection of electric bikes. The full list of items to be auctioned will be available on the club’s website before the sale and commission bids will be accepted.

"As well as helping our designated charities this is a way of ensuring good bicycles get a second life and helps avoid overly expensive replacements," said David Goldie, Skipton Rotary organiser.

The auction takes place on Sunday, June 12, viewing will be from 1pm with the sale starting at 2pm.
