BRADFORD (Park Avenue)'s season concludes on Saturday, and they will be paying tribute to their neighbours to mark the Valley Parade Fire Disaster.

Bradford City are, as always, doing plenty to commemorate the tragic event, including holding their first physical memorial service since 2019 on the 37th anniversary of the event (on Wednesday, May 11).

And, standing in solidarity with their City rivals this Saturday, Avenue will be conducting a minute's applause in the 56th minute of their final match of the season against Southport, with 56 marking the number of fans who lost their lives in that awful tragedy back in 1985.

The Bantams will be playing their final match of the campaign at the same time, as they host Carlisle.

As the teams walk out ahead of kick-off at Valley Parade, a rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ will be played, as both club captains lay wreaths on the field.

A minute’s silence will be observed - having been introduced by club chaplain Pastor Oliver Evans - with players stood around the club’s giant flag which pays tribute to the 56 lives lost.

At the half-time interval, Georgia Thornton from the Bradford City Ribbons appeal will be welcomed onto the field, to speak with club pitch announcer Darren Harper about her continued work in raising money for Bradford’s Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit (PSBRU).

Throughout the day, buckets will be carried around the ground and inside concourses, collecting donations for the appeal which was launched in the wake of the disaster.
