A MAN has been jailed for a spate of thefts from Bradford district shops.

Lewis Heckles, 24, of no fixed address, was jailed for a total of 15 weeks after he appeared in court for three theft from a shop charges.

He was committed to prison for 15 weeks for stealing two bottles of whiskey, worth £29.99, from Aldi, Gresley Road Industrial Estate, Gresley Road, Keighley, on February 7, 2022. He was also ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge for this offence.

Heckles was committed to prison for 15 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing razor blades, worth £200, from Asda, Bingley Street, Keighley, on March 16, 2022.

He was also committed to prison for 15 weeks, to run concurrently, for stealing three bottles of spirits, worth £118.50, from Asda, Bingley Street, Keighley, on March 24, 2022.

He was jailed as the offences were deemed so serious because the defendant has a ‘flagrant disregard for people and their property’.

A collection order was made, but no compensation ordered because it was inappropriate to make a compensation order as the court imposed a custodial sentence to Heckles.

Heckles pleaded guilty to all three charges when he was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on April 27.
