A LONDON man has been sentenced for assaulting a police constable in Bradford.
Nilesh Madhaparia, of Essex Road in Willesden, pleaded not guilty to the charge, but was found guilty.
He committed the 'assault by beating of an emergency worker' offence at an address on Torre Grove in the BD6 area on February 21, 2021.
A community order was made against the man, meaning he must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months.
Madhaparia must also pay £500 in compensation, £620 in court costs and a £95 victim surcharge.
The crime was contrary to section 39 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 and section 1 of the Assaults on Emergency Workers (Offences) Act 2018.
He was also found guilty of obstructing/resisting a constable in the execution of duty on the same day.
The 39-year-old was in Kirklees Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 14, 2022.
