* BRADFORD College has collaborated on a new project giving work placements to young people with learning disabilities.

The new "life-changing" DFN Project SEARCH-supported Internship programme for young people with learning disabilities and autism has just launched in Bradford.

Together, Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust, learning disabilities charity Hft, DFN Project SEARCH, Bradford College and Bradford Council have formed a collaborative partnership.

The aim is to give young people with learning disabilities and autism vital work-based learning opportunities within Bradford and District Care Trust and help them secure meaningful paid employment.

This will be the third DFN Project SEARCH programme in Bradford, expanding the range of opportunities for young people with a learning disability and/or autism.

The DFN Project SEARCH programme will support eight to 12 interns from the Bradford district, aged between 18 and 24.

The individuals will be learning transferable skills for a variety of roles and will receive an employability curriculum each day to develop their work-based skills.

*INSPIRED by LGBTQ+ History Month, BA (Hons) Fashion students created a range of colourful garments.

The project centred around inclusivity and sustainability, while celebrating equality, diversity, and the history of the LGBTQ+ PRIDE movement. Students presented their work at the David Hockney Building and talked about the inspiration behind each garment.

The project is the result of a collaboration between Lenka Kaur, the College Inclusion & Diversity Coordinator, and Angela Loftus, the Bradford School of Arts Fashion Programme Leader. Each garment took a colour from the LGBTQ+ flag including one piece which was a mixture of all the fabrics. The event aimed to show the importance of fashion in the LGBTQ+ community as a form of expression. The beautifully crafted work will be showcased at the summer fashion show in the Bradford School of Arts Lister Building on June 10 during PRIDE month.
