CITY Park will host the "largest cake stall in the North" to help celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The Bradford Great Jubilee Tea on June 2 is one of the events being held in the District to celebrate the momentous milestone.

Running from 6.30pm to 9.45pm, the event will see a huge stall laden with cakes and sweet treats.

They will be baked by local volunteers and organisations or donated by local companies and will feature cakes from the rich and diverse communities that call the Bradford district home.

At the event people will also be able to try delicious food from around the world.

To keep the street party vibe going there will be music and entertainment from local groups as the festivities build up to the lighting of the official Platinum Jubilee Beacon.

The once in a lifetime event will be marked with a four day bank holiday weekend.

A spokesperson for Bradford Council said: “This is one of a number of events that we’ve got planned for the Bradford district taking place over the special bank holiday weekend to celebrate this momentous once in a life-time occasion.

“The Bradford Great Jubilee Tea is a fun way to bring everyone together, and what better way to celebrate that with a slice of delicious cake.”

Also over the whole of the special bank holiday weekend there will be a series of family events in five Bradford Council-run parks across the district.

These include Cliffe Castle Park in Keighley, Wibsey Park, Lister Park, Peel Park and Roberts park in Saltaire.

Eccleshill Recreation Ground will host a Jubilee Picnic, and another Jubilee Beacon Light Up in Keighley.

Each of the events will have fun activities for children including inflatables, a climbing tower, dance, arts and crafts and more.

Further details about these events will be revealed soon.
