People living in Bradford have been invited to share their views on safety in the district.

Tracy Brabin, the Mayor of West Yorkshire and West Yorkshire Police are applying for round four of the Government's Home Office Safer Streets fund.

The fund targets neighbourhood crimeviolence against women and girls and anti-social behaviour, in areas that are disproportionately and persistently impacted by these crime types/issues.

Crime data and intelligence analysis shows two themes are a priority across West Yorkshire - both of which meet the fund's criteria.

Bradford Telegraph and Argus: Ms Brabin previously said it is important to get more ‘bobbies on the beat’ patrolling neighbourhoods to increase community confidence, build relationships and rapport with the community and make people feel safer in their homes.Ms Brabin previously said it is important to get more ‘bobbies on the beat’ patrolling neighbourhoods to increase community confidence, build relationships and rapport with the community and make people feel safer in their homes.

This includes the safety of women and girls at night in cities and town centres and tackling motorbike related crime and anti-social behaviour and vehicle crime in open spaces and residential areas.

Interventions would include staffed safe spaces in our towns and city centres, increased presence of street marshalls and greater training for night time economy staff to challenge unacceptable or aggressive behaviour and help those in need.

The fund would also see "a greater partnership focus" on identification and seizure of motorbikes ridden illegally, targeted diversionary motorbike activities for young people in affected areas and community engagement about what locals would like to see developed in their area.

Bradfordians and people living elsewhere in West Yorkshire can send in their thoughts to the team behind the bid via the short survey here.

The deadline is May 8, 2022.
