A HEDGEHOG suffered a "horrific" injury after being caught in a rat trap.
Wildlife officers from West Yorkshire Police shared the details and said a crime had been recorded.
A spokesperson said: "Yesterday officers dealt with a horrific incident where a hedgehog had been caught in a rat trap and suffered a horrific degloving injury to a rear leg in the Morley area.
"Unfortunately there have been a number of these types of injuries to hedgehogs in the area.
"Please remember when setting a trap it is your responsibility to make sure that it is set in a target specific way.
"A crime has been recorded for causing unnecessary suffering to a wild animal.
"If you have any information about who is doing this call 101 and quote 13220215394."
The hedgehog is now recovering at a rescue centre.
