FILM crews have been spotted once again in Bradford, with Cannon Mills in Lidget Green taking centre stage.

A T&A reader shared this atmospheric photograph, which shows a huge light shining down onto the complex.

It's not the first time Cannon Mills has been used as a backdrop - The Duke, starring Helen Mirren and Jim Broadbent; Lies We Tell as well as BBC film White Girl were all filmed there.

There is speculation the latest filming is for new BBC series Better, with crews also spotted at the University of Bradford.

The broadcaster describes the series as "one woman’s epic battle towards redemption, to reclaim the honour and honesty she handed over to a man many years ago".

"DI Lou Slack, played by Leila Farzad, confident, quick-witted and wry – was always destined to be a copper. Like her father before her, a legendary detective in the same Yorkshire force, it’s in her blood," the synopsis says.

"To her peers, she stands as one of the best detectives on the team, but Lou’s success lies on a foundation of deceit and corruption."

Leila said: “Better is a brilliant fresh take on the morality tale. I am excited to have the opportunity to play Lou Slack, the vehicle through which we explore the multivalent layers of good and bad.

"A complex, flawed yet utterly human character. I feel very lucky to be a part of such a wonderful show with an incredibly talented team attached to it.”

Bradford is no stranger to film and television crews as many high-profile productions, recently including The Crown and Gentleman Jack, have used the city as a backdrop.
