A FAMILY has been left traumatised after balaclava-clad men armed with weapons unleashed a terrifying attack on their homes.

Shocking CCTV footage captured all of the frenzied attack, which unfolded on Tuesday night in the Utley area of Keighley.

The Qamar family were together for Iftar - the evening meal where Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast - when it happened, making their awful ordeal all the more upsetting.

The family has now issued a desperate plea for anyone with information to come forward so those responsible can be brought to justice.

Footage shared by the family across social media in the hope of identifying the attackers shows four hooded figures arriving on Ferncliffe Drive on the evening of April 15 and running up the driveway.

They quickly run back down and leave the scene in a vehicle, only to return four days later.

They creep up the drive and enter the courtyard of two houses, before aggressively smashing windows and cars, sending shards of shattered glass flying everywhere. They then flee the scene.

Younis Qamar, a well-known figure within the Keighley community and chairman of the Sangat Community Centre, lives in one of the houses with his wife, while his son Omar lives in the other.

Omar’s three young daughters Eshal, Zaariya and Izza all witnessed the horrendous attack. Six-year-old Eshal has special needs; four-year-old Zaariya was injured by shattered glass and two-year-old Izza fell ill afterwards.

Paramedics even had to be called to the scene as Younis, 68, suffered an angina attack in the wake of the horrifying incident.

"I'm devastated, I'm shocked," he said and added that safeguarding his young granddaughters was his first thought.

He said: "It was chaos. It's unbelievable, it's beyond my understanding.

Paveen Yaqub, Younis’ sister-in-law and Omar’s auntie, said the family is pleading for information and spoke of the awful impact the ordeal has had on her loved ones.

She said: “The impact of this mindless attack has had severe consequence for our family.

“Our precious children are utterly traumatised, as are all the victims who were subjected to this horror.

“The neighbour’s home was also targeted and has left them in shock and fear.

“The carers that attend to the neighbour’s vulnerable family member are too scared to visit them now, which is truly sad.

“My brother-in-law suffered an angina attack after this incident and it breaks our hearts seeing our children continue to suffer, remembering what they saw.”

She added: “The love, prayers and support of our extended family, friends, and community is helping us process and deal with the aftermath.

“We are hopeful that good people will do the right thing and help us bring justice to bear.

“These assailants will be known to someone, and the safety of our family remains at risk until those responsible are stopped.

“We want to express our sincere gratitude to those that have offered kind words, prayers, and shared our story to raise awareness.

“Efforts to apprehend the assailants will remain ongoing. Our children deserve justice.”

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson told the Telegraph & Argus: “Police are investigating after damage was caused at two addresses in Ferncliffe Drive, Utley.
