A city centre bank has been closed as 'structural issues' pose a safety risk.

The Santander branch on the junction of Darley Street and Kirkgate in the city centre 'is closed until further notice due to structural issues'.

Signs have been put up outside the building informing the public of the situation and advising them on where to go for their banking.

A sign on the door shows that the closest Santander branch is in Shipley.

A spokesperson for Santander said: "As a result of some unforeseen structural issues with our Bradford branch building on Darley Street, we have had to close the branch to protect the safety of our customers and branch team.

"We are very sorry for any inconvenience this causes and we will be working hard to carry out repairs and re-open as a matter of priority.

“We have seven alternative Santander branches within ten miles of Bradford, and our Darley Street colleagues will be relocated to nearby branches to provide support for customers.

"Services can also be accessed through our online, mobile or telephone banking while the nearest post office is located at 22 Charles Street Mall, The Broadway and ATMs can be found at Halifax, 28 Bank Street and RBS 45-47 Bank Street.”
