A BRADFORD man who stole food from a BP Petrol Station in Shipley has been ordered to pay compensation.
John Clarkson, 47, of Otley Road, Shipley, was caught stealing food from the BP Petrol Station on Otley Road, Shipley, between January 15 and January 25 of this year.
Clarkson pleaded guilty to a theft from shop charge and was sentenced in Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court on Monday, April 11.
Although the value of the food stolen was unspecified, he was ordered to pay £75 in compensation.
A court surcharge and costs were not imposed because the compensation was given priority.
Court documents explaining the reasons for the sentencing stated: "Magistrates have stepped out of the guidelines as the defendant is now receiving all the help that can be given to him. The Magistrates want him to be able to pay the compensation and start to deal with his life."
