THE demolition of a building that caught fire and required crews from across the Bradford district to tackle it is underway today.

The blaze was at a building on Queens Road in the King Cross area of Halifax with the fire service called to the scene at 2.25pm yesterday.

Two fire engines and an aerial appliance will remain on the site all day.

The service added that there may be an increase of smoke and dust in the area.

Road closures will also remain in place.

At 9.30am, a spokesperson added: "Two fire engines and an aerial appliance will remain on site all day at Queens Rd, Kings Cross.

"The demolition of the site will begin today and continue over the coming days.

"You may notice an increase of smoke and dust in the area. 

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"Road closures are in place so please avoid travelling into the area.

"Thanks to the local community and partner agencies for their support as we continue to tackle this incident."

Crews from 10 fire stations, including Bradford, Ilkley, Fairweather Green and Shipley, have been dealing with the blaze.
