TWO people were arrested on suspicion of arson and bailed pending further enquiries after a house was left badly damaged and burnt.

West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) was called to reports of a property fire on Ewart Street, in the Great Horton area of Bradford, at 12.27pm on Wednesday.

Three crews from Odsal, Fairweather Green and Bradford fire stations rushed to the scene.

West Yorkshire Police was called to the blaze by the fire service at 12.31pm.

The fire looked to have gutted the building and the owner of the property - Kamran Faiz, 33 - said the situation has left him saddened.

He added: “I’m very upset. The fire burnt everything."

Officers arrested a 32-year-old man and 29-year-old woman on suspicion of arson on Wednesday and remained in custody that afternoon.

But they have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

A full statement from West Yorkshire Police on Wednesday said: "At 00.31 this morning Police were called by the fire service to reports of a fire at a property on Ewart Street, Great Horton.

"A 32 year old man and 29 year old woman have been arrested on suspicion of arson and remain in police custody.

"Enquiries are ongoing by Bradford CID."
