ORGANISERS of Bradford’s first Super Soapbox Challenge have issued a final call for entries and sponsors for the big event in a fortnight.

More than 25 teams have already signed up for the downhill cart races which will raise money for two charities, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Bradford Lions.

Bradford Business Improvement District (BID) is bringing the Super Soapbox Challenge to the city’s streets on May 1.

BID manger Jonny Noble said: “There’s a real sense of excitement building up now, with teams working hard on building and refining their weird and wonderful racing machines for what we’re certain will be a really fun-packed and enjoyable day out for the family.

“It’s getting tight but there’s still time to enter if anyone else wants to get involved this week.

“As well as race entrants it would be great to see a few more local businesses sponsoring the fun and there are plenty of different ways they can promote themselves while helping to stage an event that’s been a huge success in cities across the UK and Europe.”

Those taking part can use the event to raise money for charity, and schools, charities themselves and businesses, are also encouraged to enter.
