A COFFEE kiosk planned for one of the District's Victorian rail stations would "detract from the character of the station" - according to a Conservation Officer.
Last month Network Rail submitted a planning application to install a coffee kiosk on one of the platforms of Grade II listed Bingley Rail Station.
The organisation said the new business would "introduce a much-needed retail coffee unit for passengers using Bingley Railway Station."
The application said the kiosk would not be permanent, and so the plans would not harm the building, which dates back to the 1890s.
Bradford Council has yet to make a decision on the plans, but Conservation Officer Jon Ackroyd has raised concerns over the plan.

He said: "Although there have been some alterations and losses, the station retains good historic character. The platforms retain a period atmosphere.
"It is considered that whilst it would be evident that the proposed kiosk is a modern and impermanent addition, its discordant appearance and presence occupying a section of the platform, partly obscuring a panelled masonry wall, would amount to clutter and would detract from the character of the station."
A decision on the application is expected later this month.
