FOR the first time in the event's history, all three nominees won the Star Student of the Year at the Telegraph & Argus Bradford & District Education Awards.
The judges were unable to split Ansharah Shahzad, James Taylor-Howorth, and Mohammed Owes Khan.
The former is a student at Aspire-igen Opportunity Centre who loves working with children and was involved in Bradford’s City of Culture bid.
Ansharah said: "Did I actually win the award?
"I am really happy because in Pakistan I was a really bad student, so when I came over here I said I am going to turn over a new leaf and become better.
"I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and this is where it has led me.
"I was born in the UK but was raised mostly in Pakistan. The transition has been nice.
"It did get a little bit of getting used to then I smelt that cold fresh air in the UK, and thought I was finally home."
Oastlers School pupil James has been winning his teachers over with his hard work and positive attitude to learning.
The 11-year-old also seems to have a knack for getting into character when it comes to history and this rubs off on his fellow students.
He said: "I am very proud of myself and think I have gone really far."
Mohammed is a student who came to Bradford College with no GCSEs and is now described by his teachers as a role model.
He is aiming to study psychology at university.
Mohammed, who is in the second year of his Level 3 business course, added: "It was quite a shock when my teacher first told me I had become a finalist but the part that sounded good was the three-course meal (chuckles)."
