THE Leeds and Liverpool Canal between Bank Newton and the outskirts of Gargrave has been 'de-watered' in order to carry out repairs.
The Canal and River Trust expects the closure of the canal to boats to run until 6pm on April 27.
Boats normally moored up on the section of the canal have been moved to other moorings, but the towpath remains open to walkers and cyclists.
A spokesperson said: "To coincide with the current navigation closure at Eshton Road Lock, we have taken the decision to conduct required works to other locks on the Bank Newton and Gargrave flight.
"This will involve investigation works on Lock 36 to check leakage to the cills and any other works that are required on the flight."
The stretch runs from lock 41, Bank Newton top lock to 32, Higherland Lock, Gargrave.
