A FLIGHT due in to Leeds-Bradford Airport (LBA) this morning has been delayed by almost 16 hours.

The Jet2 flight from Las Palmas Airport, in Gran Canaria was due to land in West Yorkshire at 3.10am today.

But the plane is yet to set off from the Spanish Canary Island, which sits just off the west coast of Africa, and is now expected to touch down at LBA at 7pm today - 15 hours and 50 minutes later than scheduled.

The flight was due to take to the sky from Las Palmas Airport at 10.30pm yesterday, but is scheduled to set off at 3.05pm, according to flightradar24.com.

It is unclear what has caused such a huge delay, but the T&A has contacted LBA for more details.

The previous Jet2 service into LBA from Las Palmas Airport went ahead without too many issues between Saturday and Sunday.

It set off slightly later than scheduled at 10.58pm, but landed ahead of time, at 2.57am the next day.

All other LBA services - both departures and arrivals - are seemingly running to schedule or ahead of time currently.

But the airport has issued a warning about delays going through security today.

A red banner at the top of the airport's website drops down as soon as it loads up and the alert is written all in capitals.

It states: "We are currently anticipating longer queue times for our security process.

"Please allow suitable time for security screening when arriving at the airport.

"We would recommend arriving two/three hours prior to departure."
