THREE people have been fined in a Bradford court for defying Covid-19 restrictions by being involved in a house gathering in the midst of the pandemic.
On March 5, 2021, Sam and Jessica Thorpe hosted the gathering of two or more people in their Northwell Gate, Otley home which was in a tier 4 area at the time.
The 44-year-old man was fined £679, and had to pay a £68 victim surcharge and £110 in court costs when his case was heard on Wednesday, March 30.
The 40-year-old woman was fined £300, and had to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £110 in court costs when her case was heard on Thursday, March 31.
Another man also participated in the same gathering without a reasonable excuse in Northwell Gate on March 5 of last year.
Paul Hemingway, of Weston Drive, Otley, was fined £200, and had to pay a £34 victim surcharge and £110 in court costs.
The 42-year-old's case was heard on Wednesday, March 30.
The crimes were contrary to regulation 10(1)(a) and (2) and paragraph 3(1) of Schedule 3A to the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (All Tiers) (England) Regulations 2020.
All cases were heard at Bradford And Keighley Magistrates Court.
