RESIDENTS complaining their Bradford street is being used as a rat-run have launched a petition asking for traffic calming measures as a matter of urgency.
Resident Karl Gilles, of Vine Terrace West, Fairweather Green, who started the petition said: "The road is constantly being used as a ‘rat-run’ with motorists speeding on a regular occurrence.
"There is a large school (Crossley Hall Primary) on the street which has over 700 children on its register, and this is the only road in the vicinity that does not have traffic speed calming measures in place.
"The nearby roads of Bull Royd Avenue, Shuttleworth Lane and Olive Grove all have speed bumps, but Vine Terrace West which has the school on, that needs them the most, does not."
Mr Gilles, a Vine Terrace West resident for 30 years, said a petition signed by all the residents on the street has been done, with all the neighbours in agreement that it is only a matter of time before an accident/incident happens.
He said he has contacted ward councillors as well as Bradford MP Naz Shah and Bradford Council's Highways department.
He hopes the call for traffic calming measures will be added to a forthcoming Bradford West Area Committee meeting.
