A TEMPORARY medical facility will be installed at the car park of St Luke's Hospital while refurbishment work is done on a section of the main building.

The hospital, on Little Horton Lane, has applied for permission to place a temporary modular building on the site for a period of two years - while facilities in part of the main hospital are upgraded.

The application says: "The modular building will contain a Pharmacy Aseptic Dispensing Cleanroom Facility that will be used to compound and dispense aseptically produced cancer treatment injections and other Total Parenteral Nutrition infusions for extremely sick and vulnerable patients of the Hospital and Trust.

"Sterile medicinal products have a very short expiry period and are made to order for individual patients.

Bradford has a 'strong case' for a brand-new hospital fit for the future

"This temporary facility is required whilst existing facilities are upgraded.

"The use of the building will be by Pharmacy staff only, there will no public or other visitors allowed due to the nature of the work being carried out."

A decision on the application is expected next month.
