A BRADFORD doctor says ‘horses deserve so much more’ ahead of this year’s Grand National.

Dr Amir Khan, who also appears on a host of daytime TV shows including ITV’s Good Morning Britain and Lorraine, has highlighted what horses can possibly be subject to at horse racing meetings.

The Grand National is one of horse racings showpiece events of the year and will take place at 5.15pm on Saturday, with millions of pounds worth of bets placed by punters across the country.

But Dr Amir tweeted a word of caution about the popular event.

He posted: “It’s the Grand National this weekend.

“Just a reminder that horses get injured, whipped and even die during horse racing events.

“Horses are wonderful creatures that deserve so much more.”
