BRADFORD is the fastest growing city in the UK for the year 2022, according to new research.

The Fastest Growing Cities Index, by online metals specialist metals4U, considered five factors when determining where cities ranked in its list.

These included business survival rates, average cost of living, population size and metals4U sales data.

The index combined the data per capita into a 100-point ranking system and found that Bradford took number one spot.

It found that Bradford had 1,684 new businesses registered per capita in 2020, and had a soaring 91.5 per cent business survival rate.

Metals4U said that this figure was a strong indicator that the district is thriving and ready to “change people’s perceptions” over the coming years.

Another West Yorkshire city came second, with Wakefield having 2,250 new businesses in 2020 and a survival rate of 90.1 per cent.

In third was Wrexham in North Wales, followed by Brighton and Hove.

Leeds also made the top ten, being ranked as the eight fastest growing city in Britain.

Paul McFadyen, Managing Director at metals4U, said: “It is great to see that Yorkshire cities have ranked highly in terms of growth and development.

“As a Wetherby-based business, we are proud to be contributing to the growth of northern cities and excited about their future.”
