A MAN was caught with a knuckle duster and commando knife at Leeds Bradford Airport.

Ricky Lister, 60, of South Parade, Morley, appeared before Bradford Magistrates' Court to face one charge of possessing an offensive weapon - a knuckle duster - in a public place and possessing a knife blade/ sharp pointed article - a commando knife - in a public place.

According to court documents, he was caught at the airport on March 6 this year and pleaded guilty to both offences.

For the commando knife offence he was committed to prison for 16 weeks, suspended for 12 months and four weeks, to run concurrently, for the knuckle duster offence. That sentence was also suspended.

Lister must also comply with a Foreign Travel Prohibition Requirement and must not travel to any country or territory outside the British Islands for four months.

Court documents state that the knuckle duster and commanded knife are to be forfeited and destroyed.

Lister must also pay £85 costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £128 surcharge to fund victim services.

A collection order was made, along with an application for benefit deductions to recover to recover the sum of £213.

The balance must be paid by April 14.
