A MAN who won a TV travel challenge has completed his biggest charity running challenge to date – taking on a marathon during Ramadan to help raise £100,000 to build a school for disadvantaged children in Nepal.

Emon Choudhury, crowned co-winners of BBC Two's Race Across the World in 2020, completed the Manchester Marathon yesterday in a time of five hours 26 minutes, which is on the second day of Ramadan, which this year will be held from the evening of April 2 to May 1.

He ran the 26.2-mile route while fasting and without taking on any food or water during the event too.

Emon, of Saltaire, took to Instagram to post about completing the marathon. He posted: “So that’s a wrap. I have finished my epic Manchester Marathon today, finished it 5.26 hours.

“Not my fastest but I wasn’t concerned about the time, I managed to complete the challenge whilst keeping my fast all day as it’s Ramadan, no food or water before during or after race.”

He started training for this challenge in January, adhering to Ramadan requirements by not taking on food or water in the run-up to each of these runs.
