THERE are long delays and slow traffic throughout Bradford as heavy snowfall continues to wreak havoc.

The predicted snowfall settled in many parts of the district and surrounding areas earlier this morning, with several routes experiencing severe delays, as a result.

One witness noticed huge queues on Leeds Road heading towards Greengates at 7.15am.

Traffic is still reportedly very slow on this route.

A lane on each carriageway of the M62 near junction 23 (Huddersfield) was also closed due to the snowfall and a number of accidents and broken down vehicles have led to long delays on the motorway, with an extra 30 minutes added onto journeys currently.

There were two crashes on main roads in Bradford earlier too.

One was on Canal Road and happened at around 7.52am, while the other occurred on Halifax Road (A629), at Denholme Clough, at 7.34am.

Both collisions partially blocked the roads and this led to significant traffic issues for an hour or so, before they were cleared at around 8am.

There is also slow traffic on the following roads currently, due to snow:

  • Pool Bank (A658), New Road, Pool-in-Wharfedale
  • New Road Side (A65), Guiseley
  • Otley Road, Baildon - Congestion to Station Road Post Office via Baildon Road
  • Harrogate Road (A61), Leeds
  • Hollins Hill (A6038), Menston

Traffic is expected to ease soon on all routes, as the snow begins to melt now the sun is out.
