A DRAMATIC video shows footage of a car crashing through a stone wall outside a Bradford house.

The incident happened at around 7pm last night, at the junction of the busy A6177 Smiddles Lane and Dovesdale Road, in the Bankfoot area of the city.

The video shows a car travelling along Smiddles Lane leaving the road and crashing through a garden wall while seemingly trying to avoid a driver turning right across the carriageway.

Abdullah Farooq, who was visiting the corner shop opposite where the incident took place, spoke of the frantic scenes that unfolded.

He told the T&A: "I was just about to pay for my things when I heard a really loud bang.

"You could tell it was something serious.

"I ran out of the shop and saw the car in the wall."

Bradford Telegraph and Argus:

"The man got himself out of the car and we got him a chair and some water."

The video shows a black Audi travelling along the A6177 in a south-easterly direction towards the major junction with Manchester Road. The black Audi then attempts to turn right into a side road called Dovesdale Road.

To do so, the Audi has to turn across potential oncoming traffic and through a yellow hatched box junction area.

As the Audi is half way across the hatching, an oncoming vehicle - travelling away from the Manchester Road intersection - appears in view to the right of the footage.

The small black hatchback car appears to swerve to the left to avoid a collision, narrowly avoiding the front of the Audi.

However, by this point, the small hatchback is on an irredeemable path towards a line of terraced houses at the junction of Dovesdale Road and Smiddles Lane.

The video shows the front of the car lift off the ground on impact, with a cloud of smoke appearing shortly afterwards.

The car's progress was halted abruptly by a stone wall - sparing the houses from any damage.

Meanwhile, the Audi, whose driver had performed an emergency stop on the hatching, does not turn up Dovesdale Road and moves off out of picture along Smiddles Lane.

West Yorkshire Police said: "We were called at 19.07 last night to reports a vehicle had crashed into a garden wall. A man took himself to hospital with minor injuries."
