FAMILIES are being invited to Nell Bank this Easter for a cracking adventure in the beautiful Wharfedale countryside.

The outdoor education centre near Ilkley is throwing open its doors to the public on Thursday, April 14th for an Easter egg hunt to satisfy nature and chocolate-lovers alike.

It will be the first public event to be hosted by the centre since it became a fully independent charity at the beginning of March.

As well as an Easter egg hunt, children will be able to explore the centre’s adventure playground, water play areas and toddler trail.

Dan Goodey, the Head of Centre, said: "We are delighted to be able to invite children and their families to come and enjoy a day outdoors with us. This is the first of several family events running this year which support the work of our charity, I hope you can join us.”

The fun starts at 10am on Thursday April 14th and lasts until 3pm. Booking is essential via the centre’s website: http://www.nellbank.org/

Tickets are just £4 and those under two can come along for free.

There will even be an opportunity to book in advance and pay a small additional charge to try your hand at pond dipping or den building.

Refreshments will be available from the Nell Bank charity café and families will have a choice of picnic areas to enjoy.

Welcoming over 20,000 children a year, Nell Bank is dedicated to helping every child connect with nature by running exciting, safe and educational outdoor activity days that inspire learning and inquisitiveness.

From Tuesday, March 1, 2022 the Nell Bank outdoor education centre became the sole responsibility of the Nell Bank Charitable Trust which is a new charity formed for this purpose.

It was originally founded by the late Paul Hockney to ensure that the children of Bradford grew up with an understanding of the outdoors and the benefits spending time outside could bring to their education, personal development and physical and mental wellbeing - an ethos that will continue to be fundamental to the Nell Bank Charitable Trust’s work.
