THE peregrine falcon viewpoint at Malham Cove will not be taking place again this year.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, which for almost 20 years has jointly run the public viewpoint with the RSPB, says while there will be no official viewing area, visitors are of course welcome to go to the cove and look out for the birds of prey.

Last held in 2019, the viewpoint at the foot of the cove ran from around Easter time to July and gave people a chance to view the birds closely with the use of telescopes. Volunteers were also on hand to answer questions.

A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority said: "Unfortunately the Malham peregrine viewing project won't be happening in 2022, with the RSPB having taken the decision not to run the project this year. A decision we support. We may run some guided walks later in the season, and if we do details will appear on the website".
