BRADFORD has been ranked as the most affordable city in the UK, according to a national newspaper poll.

The Sun on Sunday completed a study on the prices of a host of items, including pint of beer, fish and chips and petrol, for six cities across the UK.

The study found the average wage in Bradford is £25,000 per year, a two-bedroom semi-detached house in the city costs £160,000, a pint of beer costs £3.35 in City Vaults pub and a glass of white wine will set you back £3.60 in the Ginger Goose and £6.95 for a portion of cod and chips from The In Plaice, Bradford city centre.

The poll also found 166.9p litre from Shell, Canal Road, Bradford, and heating sets residents back £817 per year.

The newspaper’s investigation also looked at the same costs for cities including Birmingham, Manchester, London and Newcastle.

Plymouth was the place found to be the most expensive place in the UK, with costs including a portion of cod and chips priced at £8 in the port and £1,596 council tax charge for a year.
