A MAN has been jailed for a spate of thefts from shops in the Bradford district.
Edward James, 45, of Church Street, Keighley, has been jailed for a total of 24 weeks for four theft from a shop charges.
In the first offence, he was committed to prison for six weeks for stealing Nicorette chewing gum, worth £60, from Asda, Bingley Street, Keighley, on February 25, 2022. He was also ordered to pay £120 compensation, £51.50 compensation and a £128 victim surcharge for this offence.
In the second, he was jailed for six weeks, to run consecutively, stole razors, worth £80, from Asda, Keighley, on February 24, 2022.
In the third charge, he was jailed for six weeks, to run consecutively, for stealing razors, worth £140, from the same Asda store, on February 23, 2022.
James was committed to prison for six weeks, to run consecutively, for stealing chocolate, worth £51, from Poundland, Airedale Shopping Centre, Keighley, on January 31, 2022.
He was jailed due to his record of previous offending. The charges were also committed while he was subject to a community sentence.
James pleaded guilty to all four offences when he was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on March 11.
