AS Ilkley residents look forward to a warm and sunny weekend the town's firefighters are warning people to leave barbecues at home.

They are highlighting a recent incident on Ilkley Moor which could have escalated to a serious incident if it wasn't for the quick response of Otley Firefighters.

A spokesperson for Ilkley Fire Station said: "Lovely weather today right?!

"Fancy a trip on the moors? Thinking of taking a picnic? Please do!

"Remember BBQs are still banned on the moors under the PSPO that is still enforced - we do not want a repeat of previous incidents!

"Below is an incident that Otley attended on our moor recently. Unfortunately due to staffing we were unavailable to attend at the time, however their swift response ensured no serious incident escalation.

"If you see any signs of fire on the Moor then please call 999 and give an accurate location for our crews to respond to swiftly."
