A BRADFORD man has been issued a four-year football banning order after he threw a smoke bomb on the pitch during Leeds United's match with Manchester United last month.

On Wednesday, Richard Drake, of Bradford Road in Cleckheaton, pleaded guilty to the offence that happened in the visitors' 4-2 win at Elland Road on February 20.

For the duration of the ban, the 37-year-old must not enter any premises for the purpose of attending any football matches in the UK.

Leeds Magistrates Court says the order was made because they were satisfied there are reasonable grounds to help prevent violence or disorder at or in connection with any regulated football matches.
