FIREFIGHTERS tackled a first-floor blaze above a Keighley takeaway restaurant early this morning.

They were called to the premises, in South Street, at 1.15am.

The upper storey, used for storage, was well alight and heavily smoke-logged when crews arrived.

Four breathing apparatus sets were worn, and two hose reel jets used, to extinguish the blaze.

A special high-pressure fan was brought in to help clear smoke.

The premises were closed when the fire broke out and no one was injured.

Damage was restricted to the first floor of the building.

Crews from Keighley, Bingley and Silsden fire stations attended the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it is not being treated as suspicious.
